FLORIDA STATE HOSPITAL, Chattahoochee, Florida is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners licensed in the State of Florida.  The primary goal and function of the Medical Staff is to ensure delivery of evidence-based, safe, efficient and quality psychiatric and general medical care to all residents.

 

Florida State Hospital is located in Gadsden County, Florida; approximately 45 miles from Tallahassee to the east and 65 miles from Panama City Beach to the southwest.  Found in Chattahoochee is a small town atmosphere and the natural beauty and surrounding area of Lake Seminole.  Florida State Hospital, a smoke free facility, serves a capacity of 1042 individuals and employs approximately 2,250 employees. 

 

Florida State Hospital is a licensed hospital under Florida Statutes Chapter 395 and its “Distinct Part” is certified by the United States’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as is its Acute Care Unit.  Licenses are also maintained through the State of Florida for Pharmacy, Clinical Laboratory, Radiology Department and emergency medical vehicles use.  In 1999, the Hospital received the prestigious Governor’s Sterling Award for Organizational Excellence, based upon the national Baldridge criteria. 

 

In 2009, the hospital earned a three-year accreditation from the commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (known as CARF International).  This CARF designation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a mental health treatment facility.  Florida State Hospital is the first such facility in Florida to receive this prestigious award.  CARF accreditation is assurance that services provided at the hospital have met resident-focused, state-of-the-art international standards of performance in areas ranging from leadership, strategic planning and financial management to health and safety, accessibility and residents’ rights.
