The Psychology Department at Northeast Florida State Hospital is seeking candidates for a full time position as a Psychology Resident within its forensic division. Duties include providing forensic evaluations for individuals who have been moved to a civil hospital setting but retain their court ordered status as either Incompetent to Proceed or Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, psychological testing, treatment team consultation, and additional direct care services such as crisis and brief counseling. Supervision by a Florida licensed Psychologist will be provided allowing the successful candidate to meet requirements for post doctoral training and apply for licensure as a Psychologist.
Northeast Florida State Hospital is a 630 bed, CARF accredited, inpatient facility located in Macclenny, Florida, approximately 25 miles west of Jacksonville. The Psychology Department consists of 20 staff members, including psychology interns in an APA accredited predoctoral training program. Our inpatient population includes both civil and forensic individuals, with a wide range of Axis I and Axis II disorders. Both men and women, from young adults to seniors, come to our hospital for assessment and biopsychosocial, person-centered treatment.
