NORTHEAST FLORIDA STATE HOSPITAL (NEFSH), located in Macclenny, Florida is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners licensed in the State of Florida. NEFSH is the largest provider of civil service in the State of Florida, operating 633 beds and serving residents from 30 of the 67 counties in Florida. The hospital is a smoke-free facility and employs approximately 1,192 employees. NEFSH also provides comprehensive community mental health services for adults in Baker County, Florida through the NEFSH Community Behavioral Health Services.
NEFSH is located in Baker County, Florida approximately 30 miles west of Jacksonville and approximately 50 miles north of Gainesville and the University of Florida. Air service includes Jacksonville International Airport. Major highway interstate access includes Interstate 10 (one mile), Interstate 95 (40 minutes) and Interstate 75 (30 minutes).
NEFSH is a licensed teaching hospital under Florida Statutes Chapter 395 and its “Distinct Part” is certified by the United States’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Licenses are also maintained through the State of Florida for Pharmacy, Clinical Laboratory, and Radiology Department. As a teaching hospital, NEFSH provides teaching opportunities through affiliation with the University of Florida. Educational activities include an on-site six-week clinical Psychiatry clerkship for 3rd year resident physicians and an elective weekly “mini” one-day site visit that includes case presentation and lecture.
In 2000, the Hospital received the prestigious Governor’s Sterling Award for Organizational Excellence, based upon the national Baldridge criteria.
In 2009, the hospital earned a three-year accreditation from the commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (known as CARF International). This CARF designation represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a mental health treatment facility.
