Sent on behalf of James E. Smith, President, SSPHA Board of Directors

On Tuesday, January 29, 2008 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time) there will be a Southern States Psychiatric Hospital Association (SSPHA) sponsored "meet me call" regarding the recent Joint Commission surveys of some of our member hospitals. Panelists from hospitals which have gone through surveys will give brief presentations as to their survey experiences, what they learned, and what they believe might be helpful to others. Afterward, there will be a time for questions and answers. Our panelists are:

    • David Sofferin, Regional Coordinator, Dept. of Human Resources, Division of MH, Developmental Disabilities, and Addictive Diseases and SSPHA Treasurer, Thomasville, GA

    • Lee Thomas, CEO, Lakeshore Mental Health Institute and SSPHA Vice-President

    • Jack Wood, CEO, Catawba Hospital, Catawba, VA

    • Linda Hudson, RN, Administrative Service Director, South Mississippi State Hospital, Purvis, MS

    • Linda Eaton, Performance Improvement Coordinator, South Mississippi State Hospital, Purvis, MS

    • Brenda Parish, Director of Standards & Quality Assurance, North Texas State Hospital, Vernon/Wichita Falls, TX

David will be the moderator of the presentation.

The Texas Department of State Health Services is providing the telephone conference line. You may access this "meet me call" by dialing 1-866-633-3380 and then the room number *3051801* (Note: the star key must be pressed before and after your room number). I think you and any staff you include will find this to be well worth the time. There is no fee and we should have plenty of available lines. I hope you can join us.
